It really is an inside job

It really is an inside job

**edit: This blog was originally written Saturday, March 12th…there will be a follow-up soon as this is just getting posted due to being sick 3+ weeks! Fortunately I’m doing better now 😃**

What a week it’s been!

I just have to almost laugh when I think of the last 7-8 days. See what you think!

Last weekend we went out of town and our hotel room was infested with ANTS!

On Monday on the way to work, I heard a loud pop, like a plastic bottle popping in the heat. I didn’t have any plastic bottle in my car so I looked at the windshield and saw a big ding with a few cracks right in the middle! A rock or something hit my windshield.

On the way home from work Monday, I got pulled over.

Two hours into sleeping Monday night I woke up in horrible pain on my right back/side. I made it through work Tuesday and went to an urgent care where I was diagnosed with a kidney infection. By Friday morning I was not feeling much better so I spent Friday going to another office, getting bloodwork, and a new prescription.

In the past these kinds of things would really have unraveled me and now they affect me, but to a much lesser degree.

Yes, it sucks I pretty much lost this whole week. Have gotten only one workout in on Monday and I think like 2 walks but honestly I have felt so bad I didn’t care. (And that’s how I know I am sick and need to rest too!)

But again, I am not as upset that my plan for the week was horribly foiled.

Also, I am seeing the positives in these not-so-positive situations:

  • I handled the ant hotel well. I was upset but we still enjoyed a nice dinner, found somewhere else – ant-free – to stay and the weekend worked out even better than we originally planned.
  • While my windshield got dinged and cracked, our insurance covered it at 100%
  • I was pulled over but didn’t get a ticket. I also realized maybe it was a warning to slow me down so I don’t get into a future accident.
  • This kidney infection has sucked big time but I believe it was a sign for me to slow down and rest.

It really is neat to see the work I’ve been doing is working! Maybe that’s also why these challenges are happening – to show me that sometimes on the outside it doesn’t seem like much is changing but on the inside a lot has.
