Don\u2019t just sit there, do something! We hear this phrase often, right? But it could be doing us more harm than good. I read a different version of this that could serve us better, at least at times. Don\u2019t just do something, sit there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you just sit? It has come to my attention that apparently I cannot just sit. One day last week I realized I had been going, going, going and finally took a few minutes to sit down. I even said to myself, \u201cthis is the first time I\u2019ve sat down all day!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With moving into our house a couple weeks ago there has been much to do aside from the usual unpacking. So when there is a to-do list, I have a hard time sitting and relaxing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But now that things are slowing a bit and we are checking off those to-dos I\u2019m still having a hard time sitting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s kind of a strange thing to think about in a way but I bet I\u2019m not alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is it really just because there is so much to do that I can\u2019t just sit? Or am I avoiding something deeper or feeling my emotions? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m honestly not sure. I feel part of it is ingrained in me to be doing. But, we are human beings, not human doings. To the recommendation of my therapist, I am making it a goal to take time each day to sit. During my sitting time I can read, which I do greatly enjoy. The past couple of days instituting this I have read which is such a treat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, I do want to take some time just to sit. Because, reading is still doing something. By taking time to just sit I can take time to look inward. Looking inward maybe I will find the answer to why I can\u2019t just sit. Who knows, maybe even some answers I didn\u2019t know I was looking for.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
