I didn\u2019t see another soul and other than it being quite buggy it was quite an enjoyable run. I did a longer walk to warm-up as it was a 10 minute walk to get to the trail and same for after I finished the above workout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">I\u2019m slowly chipping away building back. It\u2019s hard at times not to think back to a time where, heck, an hour run getting in 7 miles was easy. Now I\u2019m excited to be up to running at 5 minutes a time for a total of 16 minutes a workout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">I am going to keep on believing though that I will get there. I\u2019m working on staying focused on the \u201clong-game.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Last weekend I spent most of it (other than my workouts) on the couch watching the coverage of the Western States Endurance Run (WSER) on YouTube. WSER is a 100 mile trail race that is point-to-point from Squaw Valley, CA to Auburn, CA. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"56\" height=\"56\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/liveplayrun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/download.jpg?resize=56%2C56&ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1339\" style=\"width:136px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">I tell ya if you need some inspiration or motivation check out some of these events. I was following Sally McRae aka Yellowrunner. She\u2019s much more than an incredible athlete. Check out her book and <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/choose-strong\/id1591743310\" title=\"\">podcast<\/a> titled Choose Strong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Here\u2019s a link to an article with incredible photos to give you the vibe \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/run.outsideonline.com\/gallery\/the-2024-western-states-100-in-pictures\/\" title=\"\">The 2024 Western States 100 in Pictures <\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">I sometimes wonder why there\u2019s a part of me that is just so drawn to them. I have a friend who it took 11 years to finally gain an entry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">And as I sit here after writing that, it seems quite audacious. Maybe back in 2013 it would have been more plausible when I was in Ironman shape and weighed 50lbs less. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">However I\u2019m at a point I have to keep working each day toward these goals. I\u2019ve contemplated quitting the \u201cwhole running thing\u201d and just can\u2019t.
